View of the garden plot at my son’s home and raised bed structures

Well this weekend we did a flurry of activity to complete my son’s raised beds by installing the remaining caps to the beds.

The beds are all exactly dimensioned so that the moveable caps can be lifted from one bed to another.  This will help in the crop ration as be can build a set of components on each bed cap and move it around as we rotate the crops each year.  For example we have a three fence trellis system on one cap now to allow for beans, peas, tomato and pepper to be supported during the crop year.  He has plans to build a raccoon proof structure to allow his corn to grow inside the caged area.  We are also looking at adding a hoop house to one bed also.
