Near Miss – Finish turning of a rough turned coffee tree bowl

Today Ia  going to finish up the coffee tree rough turned bowl blank I did back in August. It has about 18 – 13 % moisture content. I had stored the rough turned blank in shavings and a paper bag. A bit of an interesting turn as the lip has quite a good section of live edge bark left on it and the blank is out of round in shape. So turning at a moderate speed was necessary. I used a combination of bowl gouges and carbide tools to turn the blank into final shape.

I call this bowl “Near Miss”, as when I did the photos, that I show at the end of the video, I seen that I had almost gone through the sides in places. Lucky turn

The bowl Is finished with The Doctor’s Workshop Microcrystal Wax Bowl Finish.
